1. ప్రశ్న చివరి భాగం – Question Tag అంటే? (Meaning and Basic Rule)

Question Tag అంటే వాక్యం చివర వచ్చే చిన్న ప్రశ్న. ఇది మనం చెప్పిన మాటను ఇతరులు నిర్ధారించాలని (confirm) అడగడానికి వాడతాం. తెలుగులో "కదా?", "కాదా?" అనే పదాలతో సమానం.

ముఖ్య విషయాలు

  • ప్రాథమిక సూత్రం:
    1. వాక్యం Positive అయితే Tag Negative
    2. వాక్యం Negative అయితే Tag Positive.
  • You are a student, aren't you? (నువ్వు విద్యార్థివి కదా?)
  • He is not here, is he? (అతను ఇక్కడ లేడు కదా?)
  • Tag ఏర్పడే విధానం: Helping verb + Pronoun
  • Helping verb వాక్యంలో ఉన్నదే వాడాలి (is, are, was, were, has, have, had, can, will, should...).
  • Negative Tag సంక్షిప్త రూపం: Helping verb + n't + Pronoun
  • is not → isn't
  • are not → aren't
  • do not → don't
  • cannot → can't
  • will not → won't
  • Pronoun:
    1. Subject కు తగిన Pronoun వాడాలి (Ravi → he
    2. Sita → she
    3. The book → it
    4. Boys → they
    5. This → it
    6. These → they).
  • Helping verb లేకపోతే: Simple Present కు do / does, Simple Past కు did వాడాలి.
  • She sings well, doesn't she?
  • They played cricket, didn't they?
  • Tag ముందు కామా (,) పెట్టాలి, చివర Question mark (?) ఉండాలి.

సులభమైన ఉదాహరణ

"ఈ రోజు వర్షం పడుతోంది, కదా?" – It is raining today, isn't it? అని అడగడం.

2. Helping Verbs & Modals తో Tags (Tags with Be, Have and Modals)

వాక్యంలో Helping verb ఉంటే అదే Tag లో వాడాలి. Be, Have, Modal verbs వేర్వేరుగా ప్రవర్తిస్తాయి. ఈ నియమాలు గుర్తుంచుకోండి.

ముఖ్య విషయాలు

  • Be verbs (is, am, are, was, were):
    1. She is clever, isn't she?
    2. They were late, weren't they?
  • Have / Has / Had (Perfect Tenses లో Helping verb):
    1. He has finished the work, hasn't he?
    2. You had seen him, hadn't you?
  • Have (Main verb గా, "కలిగి ఉండు"): Do-forms వాడతారు (సాధారణంగా).
  • They have a car, don't they? (British లో haven't they? కూడా వాడతారు)
  • Modal Verbs (can, could, may, might, will, would, shall, should, must, ought to): అదే Modal ను వాడాలి.
  • He can swim, can't he?
  • You will come, won't you?
  • They should help, shouldn't they?
  • She must go, mustn't she?
  • Used to: He used to smoke, didn't he? (లేదా usedn't he?)
  • Ought to: You ought to go, oughtn't you?
  • Dare / Need: He needn't go, need he?
  • Continuous / Perfect Continuous: Helping verb మొదటిదే
  • She is singing, isn't she?
  • He has been working, hasn't he?

సులభమైన ఉదాహరణ

"రవి వెళ్ళగలడు" (Ravi can go) → Ravi can go, can't he? ఇక్కడ can కు Negative can't అవుతుంది.

3. ప్రత్యేక Tags – I am, Let us, Imperatives (Special Tags)

కొన్ని వాక్యాలకు Tags సాధారణ నియమం ప్రకారం రావు. పరీక్షల్లో ఇవే ఎక్కువగా అడుగుతారు, కాబట్టి ప్రత్యేకంగా గుర్తుంచుకోండి.

ముఖ్య విషయాలు

  • I am ...: Tag = aren't I? (amn't I? అనేది వాడరు)
  • I am late, aren't I?
  • I am not ...: Tag = am I?
  • I am not wrong, am I?
  • Let us / Let's ...: Tag = shall we?
  • Let us go, shall we?
  • Let's play, shall we?
  • Let me / Let him ... (అనుమతి): Tag = will you?
  • Let me go, will you?
  • ఆజ్ఞార్థక వాక్యాలు (Imperative) – Order / Request: Tag = will you? / won't you?
  • Open the door, will you? / won't you?
  • Don't make noise, will you?
  • Imperative Negative: "Do not ...", Tag = will you?
  • Let's not ...: shall we?
  • Suggestion with "Don't": Don't forget it, will you?
  • Positive Imperative:
    1. Come in, won't you? (ఆహ్వానం)
    2. Help me, can you? (అభ్యర్థన)
  • ఎందుకు aren't I?: "I am" కు "amn't I" అనేది ప్రామాణిక ఇంగ్లీష్‌లో లేదు, అందుకే "aren't I?" వాడతారు.

గమనిక: Imperative వాక్యాలకు Tag ఎల్లప్పుడూ "will you?" (కొన్ని సందర్భాల్లో "won't you?", "can you?", "would you?") వస్తుంది. వాక్యానికి Subject లేకపోయినా "you" ఊహిస్తాం.

సులభమైన ఉదాహరణ

"నన్ను వెళ్లనివ్వు" (Let me go, will you?) అని అభ్యర్థించడం.

4. Negative అర్థం ఉన్న పదాలతో Tags (Tags with Never, Hardly, Nobody)

కొన్ని పదాలు పైకి Negative గా కనిపించకపోయినా, అర్థంలో Negative. అటువంటి వాక్యాలకు Tag Positive గా ఉండాలి. ఇదే ఎక్కువమంది చేసే పొరపాటు.

ముఖ్య విషయాలు

  • Negative అర్థం ఉన్న పదాలు: never, hardly, scarcely, barely, rarely, seldom, little, few, nothing, nobody, no one, none, neither, nowhere
  • నియమం: వాక్యంలో ఇవి ఉంటే వాక్యం Negative గా పరిగణించి, Tag Positive గా రాయాలి.
  • He never lies, does he?
  • She hardly comes here, does she?
  • They rarely visit us, do they?
  • You seldom go out, do you?
  • Few / Little: Negative అర్థం
  • Few people attended, did they?
  • A few / A little: Positive అర్థం
  • A few people attended, didn't they?

  • Nobody came, did they?
  • Everyone is present, aren't they?
  • Nothing happened, did it?
  • Something is wrong, isn't it?
  • Neither / Either / None: Tag లో "they" వాడతారు (కొన్ని సందర్భాల్లో)
  • None of them came, did they?

సులభమైన ఉదాహరణ

"అతను ఎప్పుడూ ఆలస్యంగా రాడు" (He never comes late) అంటే Negative అర్థం, కాబట్టి "does he?" (Positive tag).

5. There, This, That, Noun & Pronoun తో Tags (Tags with Subjects)
